Why is there a nail bare wire on my pick up?

Topic should say no bare wire not nail bare wire. Don’t know how to fix it.

Rookie question, and probably an obvious answer, but…. On my Wilkinson hotrail single coil humbuckers, there is clearly a bare wire soldered to the bottom of the pick up, but only four wires come out the other end. Where is the bare wire?

It's probably connected to one of the ground wires.

How can I tell which one? The reason I even care is because I wired the pick ups to individual push/pull pors to allow for series/parallel. So how do I know which wire needs to go to ground?

You'll need to look up the wiring color code for that brand of pickups. Sadly, there is no 'standard' for color codes...yet.
