Why is there an EVH Wolfgang special shortage?

I have been waiting on sweetwater and a few other places to get some in. But have been told by some places it is going to be at least September before any come in. I would just go used but after getting a used one a month ago and the truss rod being broke. I am just going to go new for that warranty.

Re: Why is there an EVH Wolfgang special shortage?

When the EVH 5150 III 50 watt amp and EVH Striped guitars were each first announced, I was one of the first ones to place my pre-order- and on each occasion there were delays compared to when the music stores said they'd first get them in stock. With the amp, the problem was that they experienced delays getting the amp from Vietnam, so they eventually switched manufacturing to Mexico. I forget the reason for the delay with the EVH Striped

Probably can't fill the orders fast enough, and they're all pre-sold to hoarders who are sealing them in vaults to sell at triple their original price.

Wolfgang Specials are now made in the Ensenada, Mexico, factory. Also there've been some spec changes, including a carved top and bigger frets. The hardware is black on the Specials, now, too.

and the frets are no longer stainless steel, right? Did they keep the graphite reinforcing rods in the new necks?

They're okay, I suppose. I just don't see what all the fuss is about.

The MIA versions are still vintage-sized stainless but the MIM Specials and the MII Standards are medium jumbo standard-type frets.

As far as I know they do have the rods. I haven't seen anybody mention a change in that feature.

I find them to be very comfortable guitars that are easy to play without having paper-thin necks. I never understood the whole "ultra thin = fast" thing.

I guess I'm just not impressed by the not quite a tele, not quite a lp, not quite a strat body.

Everybody has different tastes. I like it because it's different but it's still organic. Sometimes some guitars end up weird and inorganic looking, like they were forced into being different rather than just being different. Ya know?

Re: Why is there an EVH Wolfgang special shortage?

Since they build so many different guitars in that factory, it's likely that things are built in batches. They could have had problems or just added additional units to another production run ahead of the EVHs.
