Coming from the guitar side we are familiar with the effect of metal pickup covers, mellower sound and noise reduction. Now I got to try a '79 Kramer 450b bass which had huge single-coils with metel covers. They perfectly attenuated finger noises and slap knocking. It got me thinking... why no metal covers available for our Jazz? We rarely use individual pickups because of the hum, plus we keep the tone rolled down a bit.. exactly what a metal cover would do/fix.
