I had that problem with my Wolfgang. I hate it when manufacturers decide to deviate from standard, accepted pickup routing. Rather than destroy the resale value of your pickup, you might want to have a good tech route the pickup cavities a little bit to allow for square mounting tabs.

Personally, I'd rather grind the legs on a pickup a bit than screw with the resale value (and the top) on a guitar.

I wouldn't do it to a vintage guitar, but if it's done correctly, I doubt it would affect the resale value of most guitars. You're only modifying the pickup routes enough to allow a typical Duncan pickup to fit. On my Hamer, I had to sand the pickup cavities a bit because covered pickups wouldn't fit. :smack:

I took a wood chisel to my G&L... worked like a charm. Pickguard covered it all too

How my cavity is angled, if I rout it any bigger on ths sides it will be showing outside the mounting ring. The rout is like this (flat sides and all):

Dremels Rock. Just be sure to vaccuum up all the little metal bits when you're done LOL.

reminds me of the time I had to file down the bottom of my scorcher rail pickup to get it to fit in my jay turser...

those were the days.

I had to do that too, I bought an s/h Invader for a cheap plastic travel type guitar I got, the pup cavity was to small, so I got out the dremel, fits now! Easy.

Cover the pickup with two way tape, and it's a non-issue. :burnout:
