Why the long feet?

Seriously, why do the Seth's/59 still use the long feet on the baseplate? There really seems to be no point these days and considering several lines of guitars including strats and PRS are not routed for the longer feet it requires special ordering to get what I need. Same with 4-con wire. I'm hearing I now have to pay extra to get 4 con on a 59? Let the vintage freak insisting on 2-con pony up.

59's and Seths are correct vintage repros. That's the reason for the long feet and single conductor wiring.

I do agree on the 4 conductor wiring. In fact, I think that all 'buckers should go with it. Then again, that's just what I think.

I know thats why they do it but is that really a practical consideration? It has absolutely no sonic impact. Let the handful that require absolute accuracy pay the premium or at the very least add a sku to make it available. Waiting weeks for a shop floor custom 59 is what really chaps my ass

I also installed a 59N in my old MIM Strat and didn't require ordering a pup with shorter feet... Just cut the screws off right below the feet and the feet just about touched the bottom of the cavity, but it worked fine.
