Why was the second set of George Lynch pickups discontinued?

I've been seeing some Lynch branded pickups by another company. My guess is George took his intellectual property and likeness to another company for the new design, similar to EVH leaving Peavey.

Not sure why else SD decided to axe the second set of Lynch pickups. They sounded fantastic.

Can the custom shop make them still? (Probably under another name.)

i'm sure the custom shop can still make the super v, but there are a few reasons I can think of that they wouldn't advertise it now that mr scary pickups are a thing.

Just wait another three days George will be with dimarzio. Or lace. Or bare knuckles. He's becoming the paul Stanley of endorsements.

I like George's playing. He and other guys of that era were a big influence on me. But his endorsement isn't really necessary, and it shouldn't determine the availability of the pickup unless there was some legal agreement.

To my ears, the pickup sounds great. I hope the custom shop will still build them to order. If not, I hope they repackage it under another name.

In short, bring it back if possible.

Do yourself a favor, since you don't know George don't imply that he made any decision for money.

I'm not saying he did it didn't but my guess you have no clue why he left SD so don't be that guy spreading in truths on the Internet.

The Super V was one I would have liked to get my hands on, even though I am not much of a high output guy these days. As far as the reason for George jumping ship on the Super V, I have no idea. What I CAN tell you about him is that his deal w/ speakers has been his kind of ideas on tone and his preferences seem to progress/morph, and that he is VERY tone dependent. I'm sure like a lot of people money plays a part in it (anyone who says that they either don't like money, or that somehow money doesn't take care of necessities as well as personal wants is doing themselves a disservice by lying to themselves), but being of the same mind tonally, my tone, or more succinctly what I'm looking for can change drastically, as his does.

As far as money is concerned, I remember Tom Morello talking about how everything would be better if everything was communist/socialist. Then the next week I saw him on tv showing off his collection of classic Mopars. I wonder if he realizes that his prized car collection would be distributed to the people if we DID undergo that kind of political progression.

I doubt it... at the very most it would receive a name change.

Out of curiosity I opened the web page for it and even though its still listed under artist signature models there is no mention of lynch in the ad copy at all. All the other mention their associated artists

yea I'm all for challenging authority and encouraging people to give some thought to political ideas but it's hard to give much credit to Rage after they were in the top ten list with J-lo in that payola scandal a few years ago.

It’s hard to point to the line of artistic integrity anymore for anyone though, what is selling out? With album sales dwindling no one can pay the rent without getting a soundtrack, commercial, endorsement deals, whatever.
