wich pu for a baritone?

Re: wich pu for a baritone?

i know how i wannt to sound but no names come to my mind, coal chamber i guess, they use a baritone, actuallyi am going for the sonic range of a 7 string (kinda) for a very heavy sound like korn or fear factory, the baritone comes with 13 gauge strings

Re: wich pu for a baritone?

Meegs from Coal Chamber used a Duncan Distortion. You should also really consider the Dimebucker. It might be the most articulate passive pickup I've heard for low tunings. Others I'd recommend would be the Custom, JB, and EMG 81 & 85.

Re: wich pu for a baritone?

In my Jackson Baritone I have an EMG85/89 set and it crushes. If you want passive though I would say Duncan Distortion I use the 7 string version of it and its killer also. Though I wouldnt rule out the Dimebucker.

For korn, pre-2002 stock epiphone open humbuckers.

???

I dont remember exactly what the epi hums sounded like back then for no other reason than they didnt impress me but I have a hard time believing that they sound like a DiMarzio Blaze 7

:laugh2: ^^^^ beat me to it :)

Although, if you're after the tone on their first album, I doubt that a pickup will be a defining factor. It's pretty muddy.

Re: wich pu for a baritone?

what do you think about the dimarzio d sonic for the bridge and the evolution neck or the dimarzio humbucker from hell for the neck?

I've never used either, but have heard good things about all. BTW, anybody know why it changed from Drop Sonic to D Sonic?

If your going for a korn sound then dont use the HFH in the neck. I dont think its the sound you would want becuase it sounds more like a single coil then a Humbucker and its only like 5-6K output. IMO doesn't work well with a High output bridge pup.
