The plate is silver. I think the camera flash makes it look darker.

The WVS50IIK was introduced 6-7 years ago and is still sold today. It's the more budget-oriented model of the Wilkinson line, forgoing the steel saddles and steel sustain block of the "100" and up series, but they still keep the best basic features and there's nothing inherently wrong with the design over the more expensive models. Of course, any one who knows Wilkinson trems knows that the absolute best versions are made by GOTOH for Wilkinson and cost $100-$200, but can you really go wrong with this one for $30 shipped?
