Wilkinson Bridge

How do i adjust the action on a Wilkinson Bridge? I just received my new ERG Custom guitar and it has that bridge on it....the action is way too low...

It doesn't seem like it is done with an allen key because there is nowhere to put one in...please help, never used wilkinson bridges before.

Re: Wilkinson Bridge

Which Wilkinson is it? Mine need two allen keys - a very small one to unlock a bolt at the bottom of each post (accessed via the hole at the top of the post) and another to adjust the height of the post itself.

Re: Wilkinson Bridge

yes, please identify which model you have

the two post strat type has 2 adjustments on the post ... the large locking allen screw, and a smaller allen screw at the bottom that sets the height from the bottom of the post hole

Re: Wilkinson Bridge

If anyone could use a picture to explain it would help a great deal....im a little confused as to what i have to do.

Thanks in advanced.

Re: Wilkinson Bridge

To set the individual saddle heights (which you'll likely need to do) you'll need the thumbscrew that screws into the back of each saddle. Otherwise, when you loosen the single allen screw in the top of the saddle the string tension pulls the saddle out of tune. Besides, changing saddle height generally means changing the intonation a little (which is nearly impossible on a wilk without the thumbscrew). After loosening the larger allen screw (do NOT remove the screw) you can adjust the height of the saddle just like any other strat bridge. Get the height set, intonate, screw down the set screw, and you're set.
