Wilkinson pickups?

I had a Tele set that sounded pretty good. Not phenomenal but it was a big upgrade from the shitty 90s Epiphone pickups the guitar came with.

I had a Strat set as well that sounded ok to me, but I'm not a Strat guy or good judge of anything Strat.

If you can get them cheap, go for it. If there's not much difference between a new set and used Duncans though, I'd go with used Duncans.

Another cheap option is Bootstrap. TDPRI and Gearpage folks love them. I ordered a set for a Partscaster recently but there's a 4+ week wait so it will be a while before I can test them out. And I need another neck for that project, I used the one that was on it for a partscaster my son and I put together.

I've played both their "low gauss" ceramic-based Tele and Strat pickups and was quite surprised by them! Great sound for the price. Won't be pulling my Duncans for them, but still quite decent.

I had a pair of gold low output hums that sounded pretty good. Not up there with the very best PAF types I've had, of course.
But my experience was like @piblock's - they were noticeably better than the Epiphone hums they replaced.

Aren't they cheaper Asian pickups?

two versions exist i know for sure.
1. fakes and or licensed? sold in Ali made in China
2. better Quality, decent money for the bang MIK

I am from Korea and I know PU makers and how they are related.

For Example, Tesla and G&B made in the same factory and Railhammers are as well.

As with many things guitar these days, it depends on the exact model. I have a noiseless P-90 Wilkinson that sounds so much better than the stock unit in my Dean Leslie West. Hotter output and no buzz!
