To clarify - there are 2 standards; Wilkinson by Gotoh and just plain Wilkinson.

Wilkinson by Gotoh are fare superior quality. Gotoh make the VS100, VG300 and others.

The standard Wilkinson range includes the vintage trem (1/8" spacing, push-in arm, steel block) and a "budget" VS100. However, they're not made by Gotoh.

I own a Vintage Icon V6 with the vintage trem - its fantastic. Stays in tune well and has a very nice feel to it. The push in arm is a bonus - there's a small allen screw to tension the arm on the block.

Good clarification. I can attest to the push in arm with the small allen screw. It's very well designed. The VS401 I mentioned in my previous post is a Gotoh/Wilkinson as well.

jccarmichael - love the look of the VS401 on the warmoth.

I'm also piecing together a warmoth guitar - I went with the VG300.

Wilkinson and Gotoh have nailed it with the tension adjustable arms. Why cant Fender take a lesson here??

Thanks! I absolutely agree about all of the above. It might be a proprietary thing. You know... patents and whatnot. Then again there are so many Fender "purists" who would fight tooth and nail against any type of non-traditional component on a strat. In any case, I'm glad something better is available aftermarket. I can't imagine going back to an inferior bridge. It's such an important component to the guitar in so many ways.
Best of luck to you with the Warmoth and the VG300. I don't doubt you'll be happy with your choice. :approve:

Agreed - I've never been tempted to revisit USA fender trems after owning a strat and feeling the arm get looser and finally snap.

Its just one of those things they shoudl address - like wiring the 2nd tone to the bridge p'up.

I had one on an Ibanez Blazer, in the 90's. It stayed in tune wonderfully. I actually had plans to put a Floyd Rose on it, but it worked so well that I never bothered. Shocked the **** outta me!

This was the vintage 6 screw model, BTW.
