Re: Wilkinson VG300 bridge

Intersesting... it's a VS1000 block with the VSVG saddles. Even has a set screw for the trem bar. Cool.

I would expect it to sound more like the VSVG due to the saddles, assuming it sits flush with the body. Basically, it probably sounds like the VSVG and operates like the VS1000. Very cool.

what does VSVG sound like? brighter than vs100?
btw, this vs300 is the most expansive non-locking bridge on allparts.com. it's as expansive as a real floyd. I wish Carvin offered it as an option since it's compatible with vs100.

Re: Wilkinson VG300 bridge

At AllParts the VS300 is the same price as the VS100, and $5 less than the VSVG. That said, All Parts has the VS100 at $145. The going rate at StewMac is $95. I'd wait to see if StewMac is going to offer the VS300.

I haven't had the VSVG and the VS100 on the same guitar, so it's hard to do a great comparison, but the VSVG is a little more "stratty" than the VS100 because of the 6 screw construction and saddles somewhat reminiscent of the vintage stamped saddles. It also seems to transfer more sound to the guitar body because it has a greater area of contact. It’s hard to say which is brighter because the guitars I have them in are very different.

Error: Allparts does not offer the Original Floyd Rose Locking trem, only the Gotoh and Schaller versions... the 145 Dollar bridges you speak of are Cheap POS Floyd copies... the Gotoh or Schaller are "real" floyds, albeit not the original.
