Will a Fender pickguard fit my Squier?

I want to change my Squier Esquire's pickguard to white. I found a Fender pickguard at the local store to do so. Will I be able to buy it, bring it home, and have the holes line up? Or will it not be a good fit?

Thanks!

My experience with that is it will kinda fit, but you may have 1-2 screws slightly off that will make the guard bow up a little bit in certain places. Though my experience was with a MIM Fender onto a MIA Fender. If Squiers are way different from MIM Fenders then I'm not sure.

Holes in pickguards might be off from year to year even among brands. I have no idea why they make it so hard and have the screws almost fit.

Last time I did that I had no choice but to drill holes and cut the neck joint area to fit. It’s a beater squier so I didn’t care how it looked.

Putting new holes in the guitar (especially if it's a Squire) so the pickguard will fit is not really a problem. They will not show and will always be covered by the pickguard anyway.
So, find the pickguard that you like and put it on and be happy.

This is ultimately the answer. But why Fender/Squier didn't standardize this is a mystery.

It's the neck pocket that worries me. I don't want it to look all half-assed if I had to fiddle with it to get it to fit. Honestly, the number 1 reason I keep this guitar around is the way it looks.

It sounds... different, LOL. Kinda wiry, but that's the way Fender-types should sound *in my head*.

But I've always hated the way Fenders play. This is alright. I can handle it. But it's not its number 1 strenght for sure.

But yeah, I don't really want to screw up the one thing that's making me hold on to this guitar, LOL.

The only time i have had trouble fitting a neck pocket
was either
A. It was a cheap $5 guard off ebay
B. The neck had an over hanging fretbord

I also had issuewith a floyd and that pocket being for a vintage bridge

Nothing you cant just put the old.one back on

I've replaced at least a half dozen guards on Fenders and Squires and never had a problem with fit that couldn't be easily fixed with a file.
