Will a OD pedal in front of TSL be overkill?

Re: Will a OD pedal in front of TSL be overkill?

I think overkill. Pedal in front of my dsl was. The TSL has even more going on in there so it may be worse. But if you have a pedal try it.

There's a guy on the mx forums that absolutely swears by his TSL and Zakk Wylde overdrive. He uses it mainly to chunk up the rhythmns, i guess you just have to fool with it to get it to sound good. Which is true for a lot of things.

A tubesceamer will tighten things up and not be overkill if you adjust the gain levels right.

Personally, that's a whole lot of artificially induced (transistor/diode) gain. My opinion is that it's entirely possible to have too much gain, finding the "happy spot" is the hard part.

I know, I know... the chicks all say that too...

I use my J&H with my TSL 601. Jekyll side is set as a tubescreamer, Hyde as a "tighter" sounding distortion. Then I can always use both sides together!Ultimate in versatility!

i love the OD + DSL thing.. i use an SD-1 to boost the level with minimal gain and it sounds awesome!

just turn down the gain on the amp, or wind up the clean channel and use thay!
