Will Changing Caps/Pots Alter My Tone?

Hi,

I have an SG classic with P90's and I want to try and get some really deep, bassy, warm tones from the neck pup when I roll off the tone knob. It's not quite there with the factory setup, so I read somewhere that if you swap out your caps that the tone knob will give you a wider spectrum of tones...i.e higher highs and deeper lows. Is this true?

Well when i got all my electronics upgraded it did sound much better.. if you already have good electronics then probably not. If you are wanting it to sound different then im sure there is a way, but i would think the cap would be the main part to do that.

try putting a larger valued capaciter on it. my music man came with a .022 (i might have the decimal wrong) and i put a .005 on it and it made the world of difference. you might want to check the value of the stock one and then replace it with one of larger value.
