Will i win this Ebay Body? 39 minutes to go.

Re: Will i win this Ebay Body? 39 minutes to go.

Well Matt, he offered $50+listing fees.

I think it's goofy of Jerr to back out, but it's fair for him to back out and offer the dude well more than listing/closing fees. The seller is going to come out way more than even, and that's not too bad.

Still, it's goofy Jerr. I think you should get it, it's a cool looking body.

Didn't read it quite like that, but either way, it's bad business. End of story.

Re: Will i win this Ebay Body? 39 minutes to go.

Sitiation resolved. He accepted a flat 50 bucks, even though I had also offered a bit more for listing fees. That oughta learn me a lesson about bidding when you don't have all your ducks in a row, so to say. .I woulda just bought it and resold it, but beggining to run out of money and the party is o'er for ol Jerry boy.. Time to get back to work..well, after the first of the year . hahah. Like they say, Alls swell that ends well.

Re: Will i win this Ebay Body? 39 minutes to go.

I WISH I could find a body that weighed 1.3 kilos... especially in Koa...

Re: Will i win this Ebay Body? 39 minutes to go.

Ebay faux pas aside, I'm more amazed that a body I think I paid $300 for in '97 would now cost me $900

Re: Will i win this Ebay Body? 39 minutes to go.

Jerry man, take that body, hold it close, I know you like 'em big and heavy, but try this light thing, you wanted it, you won it, so try it. If you don't like it, it'll likely easily go again for $425, or even more if you put the rest together and then sell the whole for 850 and get back double what you paid.

You're losing HUGE if you pay him $50 + fees, money, respect, intelligence, and a kick ass guitar body.

Re: Will i win this Ebay Body? 39 minutes to go.

The photos disappeared by now but alas, I would have called Warmoth or asked on the Warmoth forum to see whether this is normal.

Maybe Koa just sucks nowadays :D

Re: Will i win this Ebay Body? 39 minutes to go.

Dude, I don't know what the deal is? Did you just not want to pay for it (as in you didn't have the money)? Because you haven't stated what the 'defect' is...

I just looked on Warmoth's site and they say extra charges will apply for a "extra light piece of wood", meaning that the koa strat body in question would actually cost more than a regular one. Plus, aren't all the light strats, teles, LPs, etc. hailed as being the best sounding and most desirable? I mean, when you hear someone bragging about the weight of their les paul it's usually because it weighs 8 lbs, not 10.

Sorry dude, this just seems like you don't want to pay for it or don't have the money. And while the $50 is preferred to you just skipping out, the guy was looking to sell the body and you agreed to. Bad business in my opinion. Its situations like this that make me hesitant to sell stuff on eBay.

Not really man. I told him i didnt want it and offred him 50 bucks to relist. he accepted. If he would not have accepted, and I proceeeded to not pay him, it woulda been a different story. Seller had no issues accepting the 50 bucks, and will relist.I'm not in love with losing 50 bucks for nothing, but its a lot cheaper than 450.00, and itd be awhile before i could resell it.Hopefully i'll earn a leson about bidding on stuff before completely knowing what it is I am getting myself into.
I think Im in the clear ethically.
It aint the last used Koa body in the world. Maybe one day I'll have one I really really want.Highly figured and weighing 4.5 to 5.2 lbs of solid Koa tree.
...Its probably overrated just cause its rare. It IS beuatiful though. No question, but so are a lot of other less expensive woods. I would vanture to say mahogany might sound just about as good.

From what I've read, Koa is Mahogany's Hawaiian cousin. Definitely similar in tonality, but from what I can tell, Koa is a little more even sounding, not quite so dark. Lots of note definition.

Mine is a pretty nondescript piece looks-wise, but I wouldn't trade it for the world. You certainly couldn't have gone wrong giving it a try.
