Varitone and a killswitch?

I love the Wilshire. I've got two, and am considering putting a Varitone in one of them. I've got no need for a killswitch, though.

It's cool but I am not sure I want that headstock on it. I love the batwing

Batwing = classic.

Batwing = Break

Yes it is the coolest looking headstock- but because it's so long and because it's pitched back- it's a real weak spot on the guitar. I can imagine Epiphone wanting to do the 3x3 headstock just to cut down the number of breaks- regardless of how cool the batwing is.

I've got a 65 Olympic- snapped the headstock, had it repaired- the repair guy built a volute on the back- it's not exactly pretty or all that comfortable, but it's stable.

The other issue with the batwing is that it's a long way from the nut to the farthest tuners- with no string tree or anything to keep the strings from vibrating- so you'll get a lot of sympathetic vibrations- I just use a velcro cable tie to damp it.

Looks like your headstock gets bumped around a lot! No wonder it broke.

I am super careful of bumping any part of any of my guitars. I'm really not concerned at all about head breaks. I also don't get any noticeable or objectionable vibrations from the strings near the tuners, so that is also not a concern for me. If it was, I would simply put a tree or two up there.

But I do love the looks or the batwing more than the traditional Epi head.
