Wire Question

I just got my new CTS pots for my LP, and I'm gonna order a new scratchplate and a couple of mini switches too...

When I put my Duncans in, I slightly melted the wire that runs to the 3 way selector switch (I exposed about 1mm of wire) so I'm thinking it'd be a good idea to re-wire it, just to be sure it's OK.

What wire would be best to use for:

a) the selector to jack wire

and

b) the mini swith to volume pot?

Does it really matter what wire you use, should it be a certain guage?, will the selector wire will have to be 4 conductor (for 1 each to switch, one back to jack and one ground)?

help guys...

*Edit* Also, would I be able to pick this kinda wire up at B & Q (Like Home Depot)

Re: Wire Question

All of the signals within a guitar a pretty small, so 24 or 22 gauge should be fine. At a home depot, try to look for "intercom" connection wire. That should do it. Ideally, you want stranded rather than solid.
