Wired my guitar, but positions 2, 3, 4 have no sound!

What did I do wrong? I checked the diagram a bunch of times. I am confident the wiring is okay. Does anybody know what I did wrong?

Position 1 and 5 work fine [although backwards DOH!] but 2,3,4 have no sound whatsoever. Is the pickup dead? How in the world did that happen? It's pretty old. And the other two are brand new.

Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like your position 3 terminal is shorted to ground.

Use an ohm meter and see if your middle pickup is shorted. A zero ohm reading would cause your problem.

Before soldering the guitar back together and plugging in, you should always test every position for resistance with a multimeter.

If this is a strat - then the pickups should be aorund 6k or higher. Positions 2 and 4 should be half of that (3.5k or so...) and 3 should be 6k also. If you can't get readings, then try to test every little piece of circuit individually, starting with the pickups themselves. The multimeter is a really handy tool if you know hot to use it.

I'll help you later, but right now I got a show to play!!
