hi forum bros,

i wonder if anyone has positive expirience regarding wireless guitar systems.
i consider to buy one. i either want the SAMSON AIRLINE 77 F-STYLE E2
or the AKG WMS40 PRO SINGLE GB SET EU63.
The AKG is a little cheaper, but a problem free good sounding system
is what i desire.
my guitar setup is very simple, why i don't think that i will run into troubles.
guitar->(wireless sys->)sansamp nyc->eff.return of my engl combo.

i also have no clue about diversity.
if anyone can assist me deciding, show up possible issues, i'd be grateful

cheers, martin

Re: wireless guitar

Sorry, I haven't had any experience with those units you mentioned. I bought 1 wireless system a few years back, and its been working great and I've never felt the need to upgrade it or replace it. It is an Audio Technica system, I think it was the 2000 or 3000 model or something like that. Anwyays, I only paid $300 for it a guitar center. Its a great unit 2 channels, diversity, lots of channels to select from. No drop outs and sound quality is great.

I did consider units similar to yours above, and although I haven't used them, there was something about the transmitter being a part of the guitar plug that just bothered me... maybe its the moving parts... maybe cuz you had to buy a different transmitter for LP or strat shaped guitars... Maybe I was afraid if something went wrong the whole transmitter would not be fixable...

just my $.03

Re: wireless guitar

I have both an Audio Technica unit and a Samson and the Samson is leaps and bounds better for several reasons. YMMV, though, I bought both of these comparable units in '01 or '02.

Re: wireless guitar

great, thanks for the replies.
can you tell me, what's it all about diversity?

Re: wireless guitar

I believe diversity allows your system to automatically sense any type of interference. In the event it does sense some interference or drop outs, it switches channels or frequencies to another channel with a clearer , stronger signal reception.

Some systems that do not have diversity would lack the ability to automatically swtich channels...

...someone can correct me if I'm wrong...

Re: wireless guitar

I had a Samson Airline a few years back. It worked great when I had a solid state amp but really degraded the sound when I switched to a tube amp. The was the point I moved to Monster Studio Pro 1000 cables. Cables sounded better for me.
