Wireless mics

Our church is looking to get some hands-free wireless mics now (we had one, but it's about to die), as well as some hand held mics in the future. I know Shure is pretty much the industry standard, but I wanted to see if anyone else knew of some that were better.

Also, anyone that has experience operating them, what is the best setup? I've seen recievers that will handle several units with one box. Is this the best way to go if you have several mics? Our board has room for what we need to add, but I want to keep it as efficient and expandable as possible.

And it needs to be simple, too, since I'm running it. :D

Tip #1: If we're talking clip-on mic's, make sure the thing is OFF when you go to the men's room...

Our pastor usually never leaves the sanctuary with his mic, but he does leave it turned on with me having the responsibility of controlling it all at the board. I'd never hear the end of it if I let something like that happen.

I'd recommend going to something like this.

We use mostly Shure, and we have two mics similar to that one. Over the ear, wraps around your cheek, virtually invisible, and you don't lose the signal when he turns his head like you do with lavalier systems.

Remember the "Judas" video clip I sent ya last year? I was wearing one of those type mics.

Don't go VHF unless your budget just won't allow better. I could get more details in a couple of days if you'd like.

BTW, Sweetwater is a good company. Ask for Dan Van Amerongen. Tell him I sent ya!

Thanks! We're not in a super big hurry to get it, so anything else you can find out would be great.
