Dumb question time...friend gave me a wireless. Strap pack has cable to guitar...check. Transmitter has 1/4" jack...I assume to amp....how do I tie in my pedalboard? Thanks

Re: Wireless with pedals

hey butnut, nice to see ya

yeah, into the first pedal ... maybe dial back the output of the receiver if it is hitting the pedals too hard

enjoy the wireless

Re: Wireless with pedals

i am wanting a wireless system. I found a Samson for $65 in a pawn shop but was wondering if it might rob tone?

Re: Wireless with pedals

I've got a Samson wireless rig - the Airline 77 UHF one. It's a little noisy and it kills your output on hotter pups. I gig with an SG with JB/Jazz; going through the Samson takes away the extra hotness of the JB, bringing its output down to about the level of the Jazz, as that's all the unit can apparently kick out. If I didn't need to be quite so mobile and I could afford something better, it probably wouldn't leave the house much...until I got a vocal mic transmitter for it. Pretty awesome for vocals, actually, but for guitar, you can do better.

Thanks for the info.

What is a good wireless unit for guitars and effects?

Re: Wireless with pedals

with wireless systems you're always making a big sacrifice.. the basic principle is that you're playing at gig volumes with eq and any pedals you have available - any change in tone is either ignorable or can be dialled out!

if you're uber-fussy about live tone, i'd say get either a buffer circuit or active pickups in the guitar, and a decent long lead!

I'm gonna have to disagree.

With my wireless system I have no signal loss. I know alot of people say there is some kind of signal loss, so I actually A/B'd with a good quality guitar cable. I could not percieve any difference in tone, noise, or level. When hooked up to my pedal board, the wireless system sounded exactly the same as if I were still using a cable.

My system does have a knob to control the output level. I've matched the level so that it was the equivelent of using a cable. Maybe the system you tried lacked this feature?

Re: Wireless with pedals

what the...not working, what am I doing wrong? New battery in the pack, turned on, channel 2, all green. Wireless unit plugged in, channel 2 lit up, green ready light on. Amp cable plugged into the back of the unit, amp volume on 3. Pack cable plugged into guitar, volume up...no sound. I tried switching channels, no dice....anyone have a suggestion? It's a Shure PG14
