wiring a p rail trembucker with a single coil?

I'm in the process of building another pick guard for my squire strat.I plan on putting a p rails trembucker in the bridge. I also have a fender noiseless single coil that I would like to put in the neck.Would I be able to set these two up with just a five way standard fender switch? My thoughts are the first three positions on the switch would be switching from p90 to humbucker to rails mode on the p rails. then position number 4 on the switch would be the rails portion of the p rails and the neck single coil at the same time..and position five on the switch would be just the neck single coil by itself.

The fender noiseless single has two wires coming off of it. I would also have two tone knobs (one for the p rails and one for the neck single coil) and a volume knob.. is this doable and am I looking at it the right way? Any information would be helpful.

The p rails seems to be a little more complex as far as wiring is concerned. I don't mind having it in the guitar by it self but I need to know if I can do it the way I described because I need to order a pick guard with the proper cut outs in it.

At the worst I could have the two pups operate totally independantly. In other words, three spaces on the switch to use the capabilities of the P rails then one that does nothing, and the last that engages the neck single coil only...

thanks folks...

I think it could be done. you would end up with position 1 = P-90, 2 = hummer (parallel), 3 = rail, 4 = rail + neck, 5 = neck.

anyway to do it with the p rails humbucking mode in series with that configuration though? I want the hotter humbucker characteristic

Re: wiring a p rail trembucker with a single coil?

as an aside I'm very disappointed in the duncan customer service...they pointed me to the forums and another guitar electronics site...isn't it THEIR product? What I'm looking to do is hardly the most complex setup ever conceived....

for instance..what if you have a guitar that's routed for H S S and you just can't get another p rails in there? then what?

this is all very frustrating

Re: wiring a p rail trembucker with a single coil?

With your setup you couldn't get the series mode. You'd have to splint the finish wires from each coil together, and then you couldn't get the P-90 or rail coils alone. I think you'd at least need another dpdt switch on th P-Rail to do it.

Re: wiring a p rail trembucker with a single coil?

well I think my friend and I came up with a solution I can live with..p rails bridge..single coil neck..three way mini toggle and a three way blade switch

three way dpdt switch for operating the p rails on its own normally...and the three way blade switch to go from the p rails to the neck pickup..no interaction between the two...
