Wiring an extension cab?

I have a casing for a 1x12 speaker. It used to be an old combo, but it bit the dust some time ago. I thought about just converting it to an extension cab.

What would I need, and where could I get the necessary materials?

a 1/4" jack, a speaker and some speaker wire

radio shack (which is almost useless nowadays) or any electronics store should have the jack and wire

Sweet! Doesn't sound like it will be hard.

I was going to buy a new speaker for it. Anything I should look for? Ohm rating or a wattage minimum?

Of course I am an electrical idiot. Took me a week to wire up my new pups, and ended up giving up on the coil tap set up.

to do it "right" you need to replace the front panel so that it is one piece all the way up. If you leave the amp part in, it really wont matter. Just dont want to have the front open where the amp used to be.

Radio shack has 12 guage monster cable (blue). I like this or even better, Voodoo amps 50/50 speaker cable.
