Wiring Diagrams

I bought a set of Alnico 2 Pro Slash pups but I'm having trouble getting them going. I have followed the "Standard" single conductor wiring diagram supplied but I get a fecking horrible earth hum/buzz. If I disconnect the bridge earth, I can get the neck pup to go but not the other.

Does someone have a diagram that will work without the noisey ****? or is something faulty.

PS. I have also installed 2 new DiMazio tone pots (I hope that's not a dirty word on this site)

Any help will be greatly appreciated

Mate get a picture of your wiring cavity up so we can look for the problem. The pups will be fine :wave: And ahh ya not faulty.

99.9% its always a ground problem, Well at least with my wiring.

Starting again, **** it!!!!! Full strip out and new wiring. This is my third build and I've never had this problem

If you run into the same problem, try several close up pics so we can get a good look at what is going where. Keep us posted.

OK. I've followed the wiring diagram to the letter and I'm still having issues. I still have a very noisy earth buzz. The bridge pup works fine but the neck is very, very faint and as noisy as ****e. I have use new wiring right through so I ****ed if I know what's wrong. The diagram is different to anything I've done in the past. I'll post some more photos soon

Whsts the diagram you used?

I have come across many **** ups in the sd diagrams so you can only really use them as a rough guide.

This the diagram that came with the pups so I followed it. There seems to be an over abundance of earthing going on.

I can't see it too well.

Compare it to other lp style diagrams because that's essentially what you have.

The first build I did was a PRS style and I wired it as a LP with no problems. I will do the same with this fecker I think. Thanks for your help Kramersteen

All sorted. Rewired for a third time using a LP template and all is good in the world. I also discovered my neck volume pot was fcuked. Still a little bit of a buzz but I think it might be the cheapo prac amp more than anything

Comparing the 2 diagrams can you see the fault?

All I can see that's a bit odd is an earth strap, for the want of a better word, from the pot casing to the middle pin on the tone pots. The right hand pins on the tone pots was also connecting the capacitor to the volume pots, where normally they would be turned up and soldered to the pot casing to earth them out.

The LP wiring that I used in this case and have used in the past also doesn't use an earth wire from the bridge. I did my first build using this method with relatively inexpensive Wilkinson pups using the same amp and there was not a hint of earthy buzzing. It was as clear as a bell.
