Wiring for EMG81 AND Full shred =headache!

I bought an 81 a couple months ago to try it in the bridge of my Jackson. I really like the full shred in the neck so i really dont want to take it out, not to mention selling it to buy an 85/89 for the neck.

My problem is this- I read up on the EMG site and my only problem is figuring out how to wire the selector switch. Their diagrams all show a dumbed down 3 post switch that doesnt help me at all. I have a 5-way 8 inline post switch that i just need to switch between the two pickups (nothing fancy). Since the 81 doesnt have the typical red white and green etc., im not sure how to wire the switch for both pickups. Please help me here guys.. if i cant figure this out i will just have to sell the 81 back :smack:

Edit- forgot to say i will be using a 500k volume and the EMG 25k volume pot, no tones!

Artie I hope you know how to wire EMGs! you always figured out the right diagrams before, still appreciate it!

I was just heading off to bed, but I'll take a look first thing in the morning.
Is the 81 active?

I think that the easiest way would be to wire the pickup to its respective pot, then to a tele style 3 way switch and take an output feed from there to the output jack that came with the 81.

Beat me to it!

I've done this and it works save for the volume drop when switching to the passive pup.

Good Luck!

you can wire to the 5 way... connect the as if you were using a 3 way... ummm.... the output from each pot will go to their respective lugs on the switch. You'll end up with positions 1 and 2 the same and 4 and 5 the same.

Use the same lugs as where the original pickups connected.

Good luck!
