Wiring from scratch

Hey, I have to wire all the electronics in my guitar. Just need to know if there is a specific type of wire/gauge I should use for the connections. Thanks in advance.

Re: Wiring from scratch

no specific wire will not run electricity through them, but i would recommend the push back cloth wire you can probably find on ebay or other places

Re: Wiring from scratch

to wire pots to switches and stuff?

I use om 20 gauge speaker wire from an old stereo

have used the 24 gauge wire from Ethernet cables
If ya got a bad one hangin round it could source all your needs for years

them little wires on the pickups are 24 gauge
anything round there will work

the circuit wont know if its cloth covered or not

Re: Wiring from scratch

The cloth covered doesn't work any better, but it's easy to work with...you don't need to strip the insulation, it just pulls back; it's flexible and easy to route around pots, switches, etc; it comes in three colors to make it easy to distinguish between neck pup, bridge pup, and ground wires.

Re: Wiring from scratch

I use 22 gauge wire from radioshack. It comes in solid or wound and it's cheap. Comes in a three pack black, red and green.

i bought that stuff one time, and it keep breaking at the joints, ive never had any other wire do that ever, the radioshack stuff in my experience is the worst stuff around
