Wiring help please. Level: Expert

Hi. Would removing the tone circuit from the neck pickup solve my treble drop problem when rolling the volume back? If so, could someone advise how to change this wiring?

Just add a treble bleed on the volume pot. Cheap too, all they are is a resistor, or resistor with a capacitor you may be able to get locally. I have just started my 1st cup of coffee and can't think of values to recommend though. Perhaps more awake members have more specific details to share.

Anything from 100pf to 470pf will do the trick for the treble and high-mid range. Anything larger will start to affect a lower frequency range.

I like to solder on long leads that stretch well outside the cavity/pickguard when I have the time to try different cap/resistor combos- I AB different combos and when I get what I like I trim the leads short and make the components connections to the leads.

Some purists imagine this adds more wire than needed, but I love the flexibility and works well for me.

I''ll try a treble bleed again. I found the last one messed up the volume taper. Maybe need to play with different values.

Done! I bought a load of differs capacitors, and wouldn't you know it, the one that sounded best was the 0.01 I had all along!! Thanks for your advice folks.

Good for you! In my experience, any 2 instruments can favor different caps, so hold onto your cap collection and u can help your buddies optimize their guitars.

^^^^ This! As an alternative, stop rolling your volume down. Rock-'n-Roll is meant to be loud. :headbang:
