wiring help

i have Ibanez HSH w/ 5 way switch , got all new seymour duncan pups,
3 Problems
- I have no sound out of position 2 and 4 (in between pups), But the Neck, mid, and bridge alone have sound
-These 3 pups have all same sound
-tone pot sounds like a volume pot?
I am new at wiring. Should I buy new wiring for guitar since new pups?
Dnot really understand my guitars old color wiring scheme?

Re: wiring help

You've accidently connected one of the pups to the "output" side of the switch. No matter what you select, that one pup is on. In the #2 and #4 positions, its probably shorted out.

Tell us what model and year your Ibby is and we should be able to sort this out.

Re: wiring help

I have a 2001 S470 guitar. For my wiring scematics, I used the seymour duncan page showing universal pup wiring for HSH. Which side is the output side? I also want to change my guitars wiring, does any color matter? As for the shorted out #2 & #4, do I need a replacement pickups selector switch? thanks alot for the help!

Re: wiring help

Normally, Ibanez diagrams are a pain in the butt. But the S470 is pretty straightforward. Here's the "Duncanized" version:

S470-Duncanized

Ideally, your middle pup should not be RW/RP for it to be hum-cancelling when in the #2 and #4 positions.

I really like your way of expressing the opinion and sharing the information.

Re: wiring help

Oh, no. Another zombie thread, needlessly resurrected by a newbie. :banghead:
