wiring help

I've reinstalled my old pups (SD's not stock) into my Ibanez S series and keep having my signal short out. I've replaced all the wiring, w/ a new input jack and volume pot. When I plug in my cord, theres a signal when Im halfway in, than when the cord is fully in it cuts out. Ive rewired a few times. Its gotten better, now my signal is completely dead. My tuner isnt even reading. How can I fix this? I have kept my wiring path the same so I know at least thats correct. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks, matt.

Re: wiring help

Just a couple of basic things which I'm sure you've already looked at:
I'm assuming that you're not using an active pu with a dead battery?
Have you tried another cord?

Re: wiring help

I was switching back and forth b/n old and new input jack (soldering). Both had same results with signal dying. Is it safe to cancel out the input jack? In rewiring, could I have fried a wire somewhere? Should I start from square one and change all the wiring?

Re: wiring help

success! after replacing the wiring from the input jack, my signal stayed. Odd though that before, when the jack was out of the body my signal was good. And when I put the jack back in the body, my signal died. Oh well

Your jack was probably hitting ground.
