wiring help!

On my Hamer Special, I installed a couple of pickups yesterday. It has two volumes and one tone, with a H/H setup and 3 way toggle. I thought I had everything hooked up correctly according to the diagram but, I get no sound at all. Plus, when I turn the tone knob I get a loud buzz like a bad ground. Any ideas?

Thanks

All right I fooled with it a little. Now I can get some signal from the pickup, but there is a loud "bad ground" type buzz over the top of it. Did I get some colors switched?

Re: wiring help!

There's three terminals on each volume control. One is soldered to the back of the pot...that leaves two. The middle one goes to your switch and from your switch goes to the output jack. So your black wire should be connected to the remaining terminal of the volume pot and your green wire (and any uninsulated ground wire if your pickup has one) should go the back of the volume pot or ground.

Usually when there are problems it's because the guy doing the work has forgotten something....so check your work over and over until you find out what you did wrong.

Another thing to note, when I turn the tone all the way off, that kills the signal. Is there something between the tone and jack that's not done correctly?

Yep! What, I don't know. The master tone control on a Hamer is connected to the output jack, BTW. What did you alter? Only you know! :laugh2: Lew

Re: wiring help!

O.K. I've got the tone wired to the jack and the switch coming from the terminal that is clockwise to the middle terminal, wihch I have soldered to ground. The terminal that is counterclockwise to the middle terminal has nothing soldered to it. This is how it was done on the Duncan schematic assuming I read it right.
