wiring help!

So I want to wire two humbuckers (Custom Custom and Pearly Gates) with a 3-way 8-pole switch and 1 volume 1 tone to a long-shaft output jack. I found this diagram which looks like with the 3 settings I would get full bridge, split bridge and neck, and full neck... is that correct?

The only problem is I am guaranteed to mess this up going off this diagram.

I think I could manage with a diagram that looked more like this one:

Is there anyone with a kind enough soul to convert the diagrams so an amateur like me could complete it? I would be so grateful!

Re: wiring help!

Do you want to split the pickups in the middle position or have both humbuckers on in the middle?

Re: wiring help!

The issue I have is that I am not intelligent enough to understand it :( With the second diagram I can see the wires and where to solder them. If the first diagram looked like the second I could do it I think! So that was the purpose of this thread.

Fear not my friend

Correct me if any of this wrong, but you have two humbuckers, and a 3 way blade switch. One volume, and one tone?

Re: wiring help!

The difference is instead of combining the coils (Red/White together) you split them at the switch.

Just connect the pickups to the switch like the first diagram, and everything else like below.

Ok perfect, thank you so much!

I remembered something odd about my switch from that diagram, which is that the pole pieces are reversed... the highest most pole is on the right side of the switch instead of the left. Does this matter?

Re: wiring help!

Welp I failed miserably, and burnt myself in the process doh! Think I likely need a new volume pot as mine is covered in gobs of solder then I can try again. Thanks for all the help!

Re: wiring help!

Nah, it is a learning process. No one solders great right off.

The two things that really helped me was cleaning my connection points with alcohol and using liquid flux.
