Wiring help

I am upgrading pickups on a dirt cheap but solid bones Peavey Raptor and thought I had the HSS wiring with one of those straight inline 'import' 5 way selector switches figured out by using a generic Ibanez HSS diagram but I'm getting no sound...here's the diagram I followed and a pic...any ideas?

Re: Wiring help

What kind of pickups are they? Do you have the color codes for them?

Re: Wiring help

To me it looks all correct. Can't see exactly how the cap is wired, but I suppose you have it right. What about jack connection?

Also: Make sure nothing is grounding to the cavity shielding when you put pickquard on. Done that many times... these days I always put some electrical tape over 5-way switch lugs to prevent that.

Re: Wiring help

The last 2 tabs on the switch have to be grounded, it looks like they aren’t soldered together and soldered to ground. I do see a ground wire, but I can’t see what it’s soldered to. Most likely it’s a ground problem.

They are Dragonfire pickups...I already had the bridge pickup and just got the neck and middle...I left the bridge 4-wire as it was when it was working previously in the guitar..green hot , red and white soldered together and black/metal to ground point on the pot

it looks correct to me too, but I'm not familiar with these import switches...going with what I found on the internet...I plug into a small amp and can tell whether it's going to work or not by lightly tapping on the selected pickup with a screw driver..no 'thump' means no sound ( I also fit the pickgaurd back in place too and the strum as a sure test, but have found the thump on the poles is always correct whether it's going to work)

'last two tabs'?....which two?....Do you mean 1 of the 8 on the switch, or the two on opposite sides , one of which I have a black wire going to the tone pots ground spot?

The last 2 where the ground wire is.

Re: Wiring help

Ok, it works now...I really didn't change anything , but while putting it together this last time , it would work , then cut out. It's a REALLY tight squeeze with full size pots versus the minis it came with...and takes some cramming to get all the wiring and parts in without making the pickgaurd bulge ....A minor thing now to work out is the volume does not go to complete 0 when turned to 0..there is slight volume. It's one of those EVH low friction 500k volume pots and I think maybe adding a cap on it somewhere should bleed it to complete silence. These are great , inexpensive pickups btw
