hI GUYS
HOWS IT GOING??
Man, its been a while since i havent soldered any pickups and i think i forgot some of the technique inherent to it. Q: /

im trying to install a Set of Bare knuckles pickups in my fender american standard , but im failing in any of the stages of this installation
i would like to know if you guys could take a look and hel me out!??

Its a 2 humbucker, regular installation. no push pull, no split coil no bull****. just the two humbuckers (holy diver, emerald neck) in full mode. a 3 way blade switch and ONE volume knob ONLY, all the rest is disconnected.

my guess is that either the jack wires are wrong wired, my volume pot is ****ed up, OR my switch is wried incorrectly.

i waited 3 months for these pickups to come, but since they arrived, 3 weeks have passed and im dying of pure anxiety to try them in my 5150 III ahahahahah

heres the photo

thanks in advance guys
JP

Re: Wiring issue: HH 1 vol 3 way switch . Help. Q: )

The first thing straight away is your switch is connected to the volume ground instead of the volume lug.

The volume ground isn't connected to anything.

It looks like one of your pickup hots is not connected to the switch (or else you've spliced a green wire onto the red wire).

Are you using a diagram?

I was , this one ...http://www.guitarelectronics.com/pr...uckers3-Way-Lever-Switch1-Volume0Tone000.html
but it seems that the switch is slightly different.
ok, the white and green wires coming from the bridge and neck pickups are right. they are , each pair, soldered with each other and isolated , since im not using any kind of split, paralel wiring or something like that . then the red from the neck AND Bridge must be wired to the switch, AND the black and BARE from the neck and bridge must be wired to the tone pot.

But i think the Switch is ****ed up. whats the secret there?

Oh, there are 3 wires connected to the volume pot
1 - comes from the bridge/spring claws behind the guitar. i think its the isolator one. ahahahah i dont know how to call it in english. but it avoids the HUM.
1 - comes from the jack, and goes to the the first of the 3 terminals.
1 - comes also from the jack and goes to the volume pot .

Maybe a picture is worth 1000 words.

A tele diagram might be best to follow as it too has 2 pickups and a blade style 3-way. Just don't wire in the tone control.

But yes, there are a few glaring errors as pointed out in the above post.

I am afraid everything is wrong in your wiring.
First of all, I think you flipped the 5-way and, the lug that should be common is really the bridge's lug.

So, based in your picture:

if we name the lugs of that switch, as it's shown in that pic:

C N M B
N M B C

Solder neck's red to upper N. Throw a jumper from upper N to upper N.
Solder bridge's red to lower B. Throw a jumper from lower B to lower M.
Throw a jumper from upper C to lower C.
Throw a jumper from any of the C to the lower lug of your volume's pot (as in picture).

Solder jack's signal wire (usually white) to center lug of your volume's pot.
Throw a jumper from the upper lug of your volume's pot to your volume's case (solder it to the case).
Solder jack's ground wire (usually black) to the case of your volume's pot.
Solder bridge's ground wire to the case of your volume pot.
Solder black and bare wires from both, neck and bridge pickups, to the case of your volume's pot.

Then, twist and solder together green and white wires of each pickup and, wrap some electrical tape around.

That's all you need to do.
