Wiring Options for 3-wire 'Bucker

Humbuckeroo

New member
Hey y'all. I just got a no-name humbucker on the cheap... it has three wires, presumably 2 separate coil-hots plus the grounds, which are wrapped together.

I don't know how to wire in a mini-toggle to do a coil tap. Or any other cool stuff involving 3 wires instead of 4... Can anyone help? Thanks.

Re: Wiring Options for 3-wire 'Bucker

The third wire is there specifically for the coil split option you described. You wire one of the two non-ground wires to one outside pole of the switch and the other to the other outside pole, then a wire leading from the middle pole to wherever the hot lead from the original pickup went (usually either to the volume pot ofthe particular pickup if there are separate volumes for each pickup, or to the pickup selector switch).

Ahhh... I'm starting to see it. You refer to a DPDT switch? Could a SPDT switch do the job?
