Wiring options for HHH Tele-Strat

Hi Guys,

This is my first post so please bear with me.

I'm building my 4th Strat and thought of doing something different (and blasphemous....)

Planned specs are as follows:
  • Neck - Warmoth 1-piece maple strat neck, SRV profile, super jumbo stainless steel frets
  • Body - Warmoth Swamp ash hollow-bodied carved-top Tele body with figured maple top, rear routed
  • Bridge - Babicz FCH TOM Bridge
  • Controls - 2Volume, 2Tone, 1 Toggle Les Paul controls
  • Pickup - Neck:Lace Deathbucker, Middle: Lace Alumitone Humbucker, Bridge: Lace Deathbucker

With this configuration, I'm looking for possible wiring options for this HHH freak-caster.
I've got the typical Les Paul HHH (3 vol, 1 tone) as one of the option but am also fascinated by the options made possible by the Free-Way toggle switch sold by StewMac.

Would appreciate any feedback or advice before I start assembling the parts....:?:

Thanks!!

I see that this is actually your 27th post.

Check out the many wiring options on this site to see if you can find something that looks interesting. Go to "Support", then "Wiring Diagrams", then fill-in your selections on the left.

Re: Wiring options for HHH Tele-Strat

2 options I can think of

1. like HH but with extra volume knob bringing middle in independently of other pickups (think Nashville tele mod) so you can have middle in its own or in combination

Then using the 6 way switch have up as coil splits and down as humbucking modes for the pickup selections.
You can get all 3

2. Or you could do coil splits on the volume controls with push pulls
Then configure the 6 way switch as follows:

Bridge
Bridge and middle
Middle
Neck middle
neck
Neck and bridge
You won't get all 3

Just FYI 3V 1T is not typical Les Paul. Standard HHH Gibson wiring is 3-way switching with Bridge, Bridge + Middle, Neck, 2V 2T and either the Bridge and Middle share the same Vol/Tone or the Middle doesn't have a vol/tone, depending on the model.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the input given. Just to correct myself - this is my first attempt to start a thread, not post one.
I'll definitely be looking at the suggestions provided and google some more and try not to rush into it.

Thanks!!
