Wiring PA Cab, need help.

Re: Wiring PA Cab, need help.

Even if you could get contat info, I suspect you'd need to be able to speak Chinese.

Actually the company is right here in NY. Right in Brooklyn.

If the Tweeters are anything like these
PYLPSN1167.PNG

or similar Piezo Tweeters which is what they probably are, you don't need crossovers for them. They're rated at 400 watts .

Look carefully on the back of the tweeters for a Part/Production number or other info. It's quite often stamped into the plastic which is often black, which makes it hard to see.

All these speakers are blank, the only one with writing is the subs which say Audio Dynamic and that's it.

Your mid ranges are easily replacable and you should be able to get seperate drivers for them but at this sort of price why bother.
Once again , a 400 watt rating.

.

This an item available down under but it should be just as available in the US and Cheaper.

Piezo horns may not require a crossover either. I'm not 100% sure on that.
Try googling piezo hons and wiring.

Am I able to take out the driver and put it in the horn already in the speaker? I believe they are 1 inch threaded.

Does this give any info?

Re: Wiring PA Cab, need help.

So I called audio dynamic, and the number is no longer in service.

There's no such thing as a universal crossover or something? I got a multireader, so Saturday ill go check them out.

Re: Wiring PA Cab, need help.

No "universal" crossover, no. However, the sound reinforcement business is fairly standardized. There are only a few commonly-used crossover point (like 500 Hz and 800 Hz) This will narrow the choices a lot. Get the resistance measurements on all the drivers, then we'll pick out something from there.

Re: Wiring PA Cab, need help.

Awesome, again thanks so much dude. Been more than helpful through this. When I get these guys rocking ill put a video up, I think you deserve to hear the outcome.

Saturday I will get all the info I can and hopefully we can figure out what's needed.

This bit? Yes.

Edit; To identify whether you have Piezo Tweeters/Horns, the difference will be ; magnets or no magnets. The Piezos don't use magnets like your traditional Voice coil unit. The size and weight will be obvious even if they have covers. The piezo driver section is usally covered with a round dome cover.

Re: Wiring PA Cab, need help.

I know my tweeters don't have a magnet, I opened them up already. The horn had a 50 oz magnet though.

Also with the multireader, what readings do I need?

Re: Wiring PA Cab, need help.

So I hooked up the multimeter and got nothing from every setting which leads to 2 things.

1) I think the multimeter is busted, its not showing its on or noticing power to anything. I tried 4 brand new batteries and the book says the fuse could come blown when first arrives.

2) the speakers are shot....

So I'm going to get a new fuse, try it again and hope, this time I took home 1 of every speaker. If it doesn't work I'm going to get these.

Re: Wiring PA Cab, need help.

Put it on the X1 or X 10 Ohms setting.

Hold the two probes together.

Adjust [ should be an adjustment knob] till the needle/digital panel reads 0.00

Put a probe on each terminal of a speaker.

Observe reading.

What sort of multimeter is it?

If you have no read out when connecting the two probes together you have a problem with the multimeter.
Put it on a low DC setting and try testing a batterey. Does it show a reading?
Multimeters have a fuse and a battery usually.
In Analog meters, the battery is only needed for some of the higher Ohm settings.
In a Digital Meter it's needed for all functions. When you turn on a digital meter, you should have an illuminated readout panel first up no matter what the settings are. [ 0.00 ]

Re: Wiring PA Cab, need help.

It's a digital multimiter, so it probably just has a single ohms (or Kohms) scale. Set it to read ohms, then touch the probes together. It shoud read zero ohms or close to it. Once you have done this to prove the meter's working, measure every driver individually across its red & black terminals. You need to disconnect the wiring first, so each driver is on its own.

Re: Wiring PA Cab, need help.

I have a different one, it was going to take longer for me to get it so I ran upto radioshack and got one of there's.

Its analog, it has basically the same settings though, I just exchanged it. When I get home from work later ill try it out.

Re: Wiring PA Cab, need help.

Second one is no good. Needle is broken, and doesn't turn on also. Going back again and if it doesn't work I will go elsewhere.

Re: Wiring PA Cab, need help.

Double check.
The Piezos might not register on a Multimeter. Get a torch battery [ 1.5 volts ] and a couple of wires. Connect the earth or positive to one terminal of the speaker and connected the other terminal to the other polarity of the battery intermittently by tapping the connection on and off. If the speakers any good you'll get a clicking sound/response. [ there's no danger of damaging the speaker from doing this ]

I'm sorry I just wasn't understanding lol. A torch battery?
