I can not figure this out when I wired it up it sounded horrible the first position on the 5-way sounded like a single coil flick to the second position full on bucker. I switched the wires same story I need help to wire this thing up. I cant figure this cor tek 5 P2 5-Way out. I have un soldered the pickups so I can start fresh if anyone is able to help me.

Re: Wiring Problem

Ibanez' 5-ways can be a little mystifying to say the least. I mapped one out in order to understand it better, and I can probably help you with it, but it'll have to be after I get home from work tonight because that's where the information is.

Re: Wiring Problem

Hey there Custom6string... home now and ready to try to help out. One thing I forgot to mention in my last post...

Welcome to the forum!

Okay... that's out of the way. What do you need? I can give you a basic run-down of how that switch probably works, or I can help you with a full diagram. If you need a full diagram, though, I'll need to know what switching options you want to have for each of the 5 positions. Also would need to know if that 59 is 2 conductor or 4.

Re: Wiring Problem

Thank You for the welcome! Im going with the usual Ibanez 5 way options bridge - bridge/middle -middle - middle/neck - neck. Both the Seymours are 4 wire- bare/red/white/black/grey if you can do a diagram I would be very grateful. Again Thank You very much. If you need any more pics or info let me know.

Wiring Problem

So I did a little research, and there are a few different Ibanez 5-way switches. The one you have is a Cor-Tek 5P, which is different from the one I mapped out... and of course I can't seem to find an internal connection diagram anywhere! I had the same problem trying to research mine, so i just took it out and mapped it with my multimeter, but I can't do that with yours.

I guess I'm saying that I can't help you with that switch, although I did find a diagram that SAYS it will work, but I don't have any way to verify it.

As an alternative, I came up with this. All you'd have to do is get yourself a standard 5-way Strat-style switch (under $20) and the wiring would be quite easy:

I sure hope that helps, and I'm sorry I wasn't able to deliver as I thought I could using your existing switch. If you know of a resource that could get me that particular switch's innards, I'm sure I could adjust the diagram to match.

Re: Wiring Problem

Its a no go.Its possible this switch might be farked, Im going to buy a switch at GC tomorrow and try it with your other diagram. I sincerely appreciate the help BriGuy.

Bummer! It also could be that we just don't understand how that switch is supposed to work, but either way it stinks!

Let me know how that other one works for you. :fing2:
