Wiring Q on Series/cut/parallel schematic

I got some new puppies for my epi dot and rewired according to the sd schematic;
http://www.seymourduncan.com/support/schematics/2hum_2vol_2tone_3way-w-ssp.html
using a 3-way dpdt on-on-on switch.
It works, but does it all work?
With the back pup selected, there is no difference between parallel and cut setting on the mini toggle.
With both pups selected, theres very little difference between parallel and coil cut.
I'd like to have had both pups coil cut together on the switch. As it stands with the new switch in mid position and both pups selected, I'm presumably getting rear pup single coil blended with front pup full humbucker.
Can anyone suggets how this schematic could be modificed so i can get both pups in cut mode? Thx!

Re: Wiring Q on Series/cut/parallel schematic

With some humbuckers, the difference between parallel and split is very subtle. Just to be sure, tap gently on each coil with a small screwdriver in each mode to make sure its working correctly. If it is, you'll just need to decide what positions are worth keeping.

I've done this several times, where I tried some new option, only to undo it later because it wasn't that useful. A different pup could yeild completely different results.

Edit: Missed the last part of your question. Just undo all those wires to start with. Then take the red/white of each pup and connect them to the two center lugs. Take the top two to ground. That will split both. In just a moment, I'll post a link to a Stew-Mac page that shows all the ways to do it.

Couldn't find exactly what I was looking for, but this will do it. It will keep them humbucking when both are selected.

Re: Wiring Q on Series/cut/parallel schematic

Thx for the input, Artie. Not sure this will do what I want. The SD schematic works by splitting the bridge pickup and giving series or parallel too with the 3-way on-on-on toggle. I guess basically what I want is the switch to work on the neck pickup at the same time, so I end up being able to choose front, rear or both pups in full HB or S/C plus both HB's together in series or parallel.
So with the pickup toggle in neck or bridge select position you can get either full HB or single coil,
With both pups selected, you can get single coil, series or parallel.
Could I simply add in my Neck pup wires to the mini toggle switch to achieve this?

What I'm trying to achieve is like the push-pull coil split pot in my PRS (McCarty wiring) but with the addition of a series-parallel for both pups together. Remeber though, this is for a 335 Dot. Does that make sense?

Re: Wiring Q on Series/cut/parallel schematic

Hey Al; The thing is, you can't do parallel with two pups with one switch. There's too many connections required. Now, having said that, you can do it if you use a 4PDT switch. So, you can't use a push/pull pot switch, but you can use a stand-alone 4PDT switch.

If you want to pursue that route, let me know. I'll draw you the diagram, and send you the switch. (I'm overstocked right now.) ;)

Edit: The 4PDT switch's I have are on-off-on and on/on. It will do series/parallel, but not series/split/parallel.

Re: Wiring Q on Series/cut/parallel schematic

Artie, you are a star.
So I can't do with a 3 way on-on-on toggle on my epi what I did with a push-pull tone pot on my PRS? Naah, I can, just not the series/parallel bit, right?
The other option then is to add a second similar toggle for the neck pup to coil split it.:bowdown:
