wiring question (2 grounds to 1 lug?)

i am installing a scr b and a svr n...everything is cool except i dont know where to solder the bare ground/drain wire for the svr n...can i ground it to the same lug on the volume pot that already has the other gorund wire to it...that would mean two ground wires on one lug...i would just solder it to the back of the volume pot but it is plastic and i dunno if i can solder it to the side of the pot where there is metal...or could i?

also i plan on putting a 3 way toggle (DPDT for series/split/parallel) on the topmost plate (the one with the thumbwheel controls) ... can i strip the main sheilded wire all the way to the pickup or will this cause grounding problems (it is the only way that i can wire the pickup and the toggle to the selector switch)

i am 100% new at this and have never soldered or wired anything b4 but i am confident i can do it....just need a bit of help and advice

Re: wiring question (2 grounds to 1 lug?)

All the grounds should form a continuous circuit together. It is normal for most of the ground wires all to go to a common lug on the back of one of the vol pot cases. Then there will be a wire from there to the ground on the jack socket and the tone pot, and anything else that needs grounding.
If you take the shielding off the pickup wire it will increase the chance of it picking up extra hum, it kind of acts like a radio antenna.

You might want to read through the recent post(s) about soldering..there is good information that will save you time and frustration.

I'm in Kitchener, ON....where is Orkney, ON ?
I'm too lazy to get a map out.
