interesting question, I'd also like to know that (not for any particular reason, just out of curiosity :) )

my Bich and Mockingbird both have stereo jacks in them. I just looked at my other Mockingbird that has a mono jack and tried to wire it accordingly.

Re: Wiring Question #29387492837492834

basically the tip should be hot and the other two should be ground

Tip = hot
Sleeve = ground

Just like the mono jack. Leave the lug that would connect to the ring of a stereo plug alone although you can use it for ground instead of sleeve with a mono plug but for simplicity, leave it alone.

how do i tell which is the tip and which is the sleeve ? i just have 3 identical looking lugs ?

If it is an enclosed type jack (Black box with a hole) you'd have to plug a cable in and use your handy-dandy multi-meter to find out which lug is connects to the various parts of the other end of the cable, one will show continuity to the tip (Positive) and the other two will have continuity to the sleeve (Ground). If you have a TRS cable or Stereo Cable, one of the lugs will connect to the ring...

Hope this helps...
