Wiring question for SD QP tapped tele version

Hi everyone,

I’m new to the forum and this is my first post.

I recently got a set of SD quarter pounders, both tapped version for my tele project (STR-3T and STL-3T).

I found at SD a wiring diagram for the telecaster with the use of a 5 way switch with a tapped lead pickup and a normal neck pickup.

Can I use both pickups tapped with a 5way blade switch?
I'm looking to get the below configuration:

1. Lead pickup tapped
2. Lead pickup tapped + Neck pickup tapped
3. Neck pickup tapped
4. Lead pickup full + Neck pickup full
5. Lead pickup full

If this is possible how can I wire the tapped wire of the neck pickup?
Thanks everyone.

welcome to the forum!

im not the best wiring guy here by any stretch, but i dont think you can have those selections in that order without a super switch

Thank you all,

That's what I was thinking but I don't have any experience wiring a super switch!
Do you guys have any suggestions for doing it?
Thanks

I think the closest with a normal switch would be

1. Lead pickup tapped
2. Lead pickup tapped + Neck pickup tapped
3. Neck pickup tapped
4. Lead pickup full + Neck pickup TAPPED (that’s the difference)
5. Lead pickup full

The way to achieve the above would be (I think) to do the normal Strat switching and treating the lead tapped as neck, neck tapped as middle and lead full as bridge.

I think this is pretty much like the diagram SD is offering.
i will give it a try.

you could wire the neck pup to a mini switch to select either tapped or full output and use the wiring above, that way you could get all the options.

I made a diagram with a super switch!
Do you think it is correct as I'm not very familiar with electronics?

You have a couple jumpers there that are not getting you what you want - positions 2 and 3 are identical (both pickups tapped), and positions 4 and 5 are identical (both pickups full).

What you want can be done with a 2 pole superswitch (or half of a 4 pole superswitch). I don't have the means to draw something up at the moment, but I can try to explain the connections.

Jumper the Common lugs together and wire to the volume pot.
Pole 1:
Jumper lugs 1 and 2, connect to bridge tap
Jumper lugs 4 and 5, connect to bridge full

Pole 2:
Jumper lugs 2 and 3, connect to neck tap
Connect the neck full to lug 4.

I guess you are right, I was suspecting that something was going wrong but...
The only thing I thing you have a typing mistake above, I think the jumper for the lugs 4 and 5 should be done on the Pole 2, right?
I'm attaching the new, corrected diagram.

Do you want the neck or bridge in full in position 5? Your original post says bridge full, your updated diagram says neck full. My description matches the original post.

And you only need to connect the common lugs on the two poles you're using. The other common lugs can stay empty.

Oops!
you are right, I meant Neck Full for position 5, so it was a typing mistake from my side!
Anyways, thank you very much for your great help!
