wiring question?

i got a duncan designed pickup that i want to put in a ESP guitar, it came out of a Jackson, the black and the ground are wrapped together from factory and the green is the hot, i was told all seymour duncan pickups are black = hot and green = ground. why would they have reversed the hot and ground and do i need to switch them?

The use of black for hot and green for ground is arbitrary. It doesn't really matter which you use as long as you're consistent in the line. Perhaps Jackson did it different to match some standard color code in their wiring.
