wiring with no pots?

Is it possible to hook up 2 humbuckers directly up to the switch without going through volume or tone pots? it seems to work in theory but Im wondering if theres some reason it wont work.

It will work fine, but keep in mind, those pups are voiced to have some pot load. It might be a bit bright and possibly brittle. You could wire a simple 500k resistor across the output jack to simulate a volume pot load. Add another 500k resistor in series with a .022uf cap to simulate a tone control.

500K as in 500 000 ohm resistor?

Yep, and try to make it a low noise, metal flim type resistor; 1/4 or 1/2 watt will do.

Usually, a fixed resistor will blow away a pot sonically. Of course, you lose the ability to adjust the value.

Nah dont listen to that.
Just wire em straight into the jack
the sound will be killer.
The old tele esquire had straight though wiring on its only pickup.
The sound of doom.
cant see why buckers would kickarse that way

all i'd do is have 3 way switch to have neck mix and bidge

Re: wiring with no pots?

There is no need for a pot or other resistive load in the guitar. The input impedance of the amp roughly 1 meg for typical tube amps lower for some solid state amps would be parallel anyway.
