Is there any easier way to tell which wires go to which pup without undoing them all? I'm just gonna change the bridge pup, so that's the only one I wanna mess with.

I'm putting new pickups in a friend's 335 copy this weekend. A real pain to do the work through the "f" holes.
Rebuilt the wiring harness with new CTS pots, new 3 way switch and switchcraft jack.

What are you installing and in what type of guitar?
Is the woman in the picture under your user name helping you?
If so....lucky guy !!!

A bit of advice...take things slowly, strive to do the best solder joints known to mankind and protect your guitar with a towel or something when you are working on it.

Post how everything went.

WARNING: Doing your own electronics/changes can be addictive once you have done a few.

I'm guessing your dealing with a rear routed guitar if your having problems with figuring out which wires go where? If it has a pickguard just lift it up and follow the wires to their respective pots/switches/jacks; if it's rear routed my suggestion would be to unscrew the pup your replacing and tug on the wires from the front and see which ones move in the back of the guitar.

I can't really think of any other way of doing it.

Most importantly enjoy the process, it's a lot easier than you think.

Also:
If you have a meter with continuity (or just use the resistance setting), you could put a probe on the shielded part of the wire at the PU and then put a probe at the the shielded part of the wires(s) one at a time until you get a continuity reference.

What type of guitar and pickups are you working with?

Well, the deed is done. Installation was a breeze. I've come to a conclusion though. My soldering skills SUCK BUTT.

So, I'll go from there. LOL

don't feel bad, I put a new pot in my wah and my soldering was less than stellar, lovely globs everywhere, but hey, it works! When it comes to guitar wiring, I have no problem paying someone with skills to do it neatly and properly.

Your soldering skills are not as bad as mine. Evertime I try I end up messing everything up.
