Hello,
I just put a WLH in my backup LPJr. Guitar. Wow. Power and lots of grit. Besides the wind, I bet the RC A5 magnet really helped too. Anytime I say gritty, or crunchy: this is the sound I mean, the WLH.
I had MJ wind it w/out wax potting also. It is also uncovered. Got a gig again, rare for me, so I am very excited. They want me to do Star Spangled Banner again to open the Blues Fest.
My main guitar on stage is my beautiful Snow White Strat with a 59/Custom in the bridge. The big mids and unequal coils really sound great on stage. Very versatile.
I believe the 59/C is a smooth or polished A5. Would it get a tad "grittier" by my definition with a rough cast A5? Just thought I'd ask while I am here. Or would it be too much. Open to thoughts on this.
I am here to praise the WLH, sounds like Peter Green though a decent tube amp, no pedals. Early Peter Green as in "Got a mind to give up Livin'" Cleans up nicely plugged straight in to my Blues Junior.
If you are on the fence, take it from this old man - get it. You'll love it.
Thank you,
Steve Buffington
