Wolfgang or Axis...

I have really been getting into the EBMM Axis guitars lately; since buying my OLP MM1. I keep looking at the Peavey Wolfgangs too. I know that EVH helped to design both models. My question is which one do you like better and why? Personally, I like the Axis. It seems to fit me better with its overall look and feel. To me, the Wolfgang just looks kind of weird.

I like the Wolfie best, never liked MM all that much, wellbuild guitars but too polite and "nice".

I have an awesome natural finish quilt maple Axis I may be selling. Beautiful, sweet sounding guitar, though the neck is a little too small for my big hands

Me too.... I have a hard time getting used to those smallish 1 5/8 nut thickness necks... But They feel so slick at the same time.... I prefer the EB's over the Wolfgangs.... I only have a Wolfgang neck, not a complete guitar... But the neck shape is pretty much the same on both EB's Axis and the Peavey... I wish the EB had a Floyd Original on it! The Gotohs i do not like as much..... If i were to buy a ED Axis these days i think i'd go for the non locking trem with the Piezo's

The Gotoh's are just like the OFR's, solid hard steel and they have the same good feel.
And without those annoying new floyd trem arms, I like the old style ones the best.

Doesn't EB use the old wood screw trem posts instead of the metal threaded inserts?

I've owned both and I still have the Axis. The neck feel is 2nd to none IMO...

I had a Wolfgang special and it was a great guitar. I never played the EBMM but I heard (read) that those guitars are so much better.:beerchug:

Definitely the Axis. I've played both many times and prefer the EB by a longshot. It just feels better, plays better IMO and has a more balanced tone.

Yep, another vote for the Axis. The neck alone would make the difference for me, even though I usually like a bigger neck.

I've never played an EBMM axis, but the Wolfgang I played was pretty killer.

Tho I haven't played an Axis so I cant compare but for me The Wolfgang is By Far The greatest guitar i've ever played (and now have owned for over a year )

of the two i like the axis much better. i plan on getting one in the future...as soon as i can find the right one that is.

The Wolf is a nice guitar but it`s no match for the Axis.

I've played both with a purchase in mind. The Axis won, but not by much. The deciding factor was the trem and the feel of the neck. The Wolf had a fatter, chunkier neck and was much more raw feeling. The Axis was easier to get a grip on and the action felt smoother, especially in the higher registers. The sound you can get out of the neck pickup with some good overdrive is just magical.
