Wolfgang pickups in an Ibanez vs Tone Zone/Air Norton (Clips)

I recorded this sound test late last night using my Ibanez RG1570 with newly installed Wolfgang pickups. It's just a mix of rhythms and solos from ratt, maiden, vai, satch, vinnie moore, megadeth, guthrie govan, eric johnson, metallica, slash... I alternated between bridge and neck pickups so you could hear the different sounds, but I used the same amp settings throughout both samples.

I added another clip with a very similar guitar that has Dimarzio Tone Zone/Air Norton pickups just for a little contrast.

It was late, my guitars need a good setup, so there's nothing to brag about these recordings. Let me know what you think.

Both sound good but I'm leaning towards the DiMarzios. I wanna hear what they sound like when you really dig in. That's where they're really going to shine.

The DiMarzios sound much better to me both in real life and in this thread.

I had a Wolfie and yanked those Godawful stock pickups. I installed the Air Norton/Air Zone combo and that guitar instantly became a wicked TONE MO-SHEEN.

I think he is using the EVH fender wolfgang pups not the peavey set.

That is correct. They are EVH brand, not Peavey.

It was not a good recording for several reasons. I needed to setup my guitar so there was some intonation adjustments necessary and some string buzz that needed to be taken care of. I was cold, not warmed up, so my technique was probably to blame as well. My amp settings were generic, EQ all at 12:00.

The first thing I want to do is record this Megadeth cover I've been working on. It should show some clean, metal, and lead tones pretty well. I think Wolfgangs make great pickups for playing Satch type stuff, which is what I wanted them for.
