Wood choice...

I just about have the materials together for 2 new builds but I find myself torn as to what wood to use for which project. The two projects will be Gibson semi-clones (I'm not trying to be obsessively exact, but close), one a LP special double cut w/ Lollar p90s at 9k/8k and one a SG w/ Antiquities at 8.5/7.5. Here's my dilemma - one is going to be all mahogany, and one all korina/limba. I know what mahogany sounds like (!), but I've never used limba nor have I heard it first-hand. Help! Any thoughts? Anyone think the limba might favor one or the other design? If it's generally regarded as brighter than mahogany I may want to use it w/ the Antiquities as they're A2 mags.

Re: Wood choice...

The LP DC has a bit more wood so I'd use the limba on that one, because it's generally slightly brighter. Are the chunks equally sized? If so, tap them to see which is brighter toned.

Re: Wood choice...

id agree with using the limba on the special. SG has been mahogany forever and its always sounded great so why mess with it.
