Worn Maple Neck- When to Refinish

So your maple neck/board shows wear on both sides, down to the wood. Is there a point where it's necessary (and not sacrilege) to refinish?

ive never done it and i have some worn maple necks. if it bothers you, then do it

I am a huge fan of raw maple boards...especially roasted maple.

If it feels nice the way it is then I would suggest just oiling it, especially the parts that are worn to the wood.

Refinishing a neck can give it a different feel entirely...so if you like it as is then just oil it and keep jamming.

Leave it....it is a wonderful feel to play on worn necks.
